A Level 3 Predatory Offender planning to move to the Kasota area next week will now apparently need to look elsewhere following a Community Notification meeting Thursday evening. 47-year-old Gregory Eugene Ward is being released from prison on Monday, and was to be renting a home off Highway 99 in Kasota Township. But numerous area residents spoke out against the idea during Thursday’s community meeting, and the owner of the home reportedly said he will rescind the offer. Ward has a history of sexual contact with female victims ages 7 and up, including convictions for molesting a child in Scott County and indecent exposure in Blue Earth County. A Level 3 Predatory Offender is considered the most likely to re-offend. Ward had initially planned on moving to Mankato upon his release, but has had 3 separate addresses in that town not work out for undisclosed reasons. The Department of Corrections is now looking for a new home for him prior to his release Monday.
