A 19-year-old farmworker died in a Waseca County grain bin on Tuesday. Authorities were called to the farm on 403rd Avenue near Janesville at shortly after 12:30pm Tuesday. Emergency response personnel estimate the man was inside the bin for at least two hours. There was around 15-feet of grain in the bin at the time. Three holes were drilled in the side, and grain was being augered out, but the efforts to rescue the man before he suffocated failed, and his body was eventually pulled from the bottom of the grain bin. The Waseca County Sheriff’s Office is withholding the victim’s name until his family has been notified.
