Classes got underway at the Belle Plaine School District last week, and the students there now have around $200,000 worth of new technology with which to further their educations. The Belle Plaine School Board last December approved the purchase of a total of 110 new Apple iPads and 53 new iMac computers. The district now has 220 iPads altogether thanks to donations as well, and Belle Plaine teachers spent much of the summer learning how to best utilize the new equipment. More than $51,000 was spent on staff development for that training. The district also recently spent around $280,000 upgrading it’s wireless network.
