The Minnesota National Guard’s Agribusiness Development Team is returning home today (TUE) following its first-ever deployment to Afghanistan. Their mission was to help Afghan farmers get better crop yields and better prices for products to bring to market. They also provided management and education. The National Guard’s Colonel Eric Ahlness says they let the Afghan government do the training and improve their budget process. They also helped the Afghans get better seeds and improve things like pesticide management and planting methods. He says that the 17 soldiers from the Agribusiness Development Team are happy to be back in Minnesota with their families.
