Whooping Cough Epidemic 06 Aug 12

Minnesota continues to add 40 new cases of whooping cough every day, and the total is now over 2,000. The current outbreak meets the definition of an epidemic, although officials don’t like to call it that. South-Central Minnesota Epidemiologist Brad Crier says whooping cough in adults can last four to six weeks or longer, but germs are spread to others with every cough, so they recommend seeing a doctor as soon as possible for antibiotics to clear it up.
