West Nile Cases Growing 15 Aug 12

State health officials have now confirmed 22 human cases of West Nile virus in Minnesota so far this season, and the number continues to grow. The Minnesota Department of Health’s Dave Neitzel says the state is on track for the busiest West Nile virus season in the last five years. He says 2007 was the last big year with 101 West Nile cases. Most of the cases this year have been in south-central and southwestern Minnesota, including 1 case in Brown County and a blood donor with West Nile in Cottonwood County.
