The U.S. men’s basketball team is wearing gold in London. The Americans rolled to a 107-100 win over Spain in Sunday’s final to capture the gold medal. Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love had nine points and nine rebounds in 19 minutes of action. The Americans have won back-to-back gold medals and collected their 14th Olympic title since 1936. They have won five of the six gold medals since NBA stars began Olympic play at the 1992 Barcelona Games. The U.S. also defeated Spain for gold in 2008 at the Beijing Games.
Lynx Trio, Team USA Win Gold
(London) — The U.S. women’s basketball team has won the gold medal at the London Olympics. The Americans routed France, 86-50, on Saturday in the final. Minnesota Lynx guard Maya Moore had six points, seven rebounds and two assists in 26 minutes of action for Team USA, which has won 41 straight Olympic games. Seimone Augustus finished with eight points, while Lindsay Whalen had three points and two assists in the win. The U.S. has now won five gold medals in-a-row.
