The U.S. men’s basketball squad scored more points than any team in Olympic history with a 156-73 win over Nigeria on Thursday in London. The 156 points broke Brazil’s previous Olympic record mark of 137 in 1988. Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love scored 15 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out a pair of assists as Team USA improved to a perfect 3-and-0 in Group A play. The Americans play Lithuania on Saturday and wrap up group play on Monday versus Argentina.
Lynx Trio, Team USA Back In Action
(London) — A trio of Minnesota Lynx and the United States women’s basketball team are back in action today at the London Olympics. Seimone Augustus, Maya Moore and Lindsay Whalen and the rest of Team USA goes up against Czech Republic. The Americans are a perfect 3-and-0 in preliminary Group A play with wins over Croatia, Angola and Turkey. They have won their three preliminary round games by a combined 108 points. The U.S. squad wraps up preliminary play on Sunday versus China.
