The Vikings will have two more workouts today in Mankato as training camp continues. The new NFL collective bargaining agreement called for a lighter workload during summer camp. Teams are now simply doing walk-through practices during the morning and then full-blown practices in pads during the afternoon. That is a change from the old-fashioned two-a-day routine that was customary at training camps for years. Those two-a-day sessions were both usually full practices. Minnesota running back Toby Gerhart (GARE-hart) says the new routine is fine with him. Training camp reports begin Monday afternoon on 860 AM KNUJ.
Blair To Ring Of Honor
(Eden Prairie, MN) — Former Viking linebacker Matt Blair will be inducted as the 20th member of the team’s “Ring of Fame” during a halftime ceremony in October. Blair played for the Vikings from 1974 through 1985 and is the franchise’s second all-time leading tackler. The Iowa State product made six consecutive Pro Bowls from 1977-82. Blair’s induction will take place at halftime of the October 25th game against the Buccaneers at the Metrodome.
