(London) — The USA women’s volleyball team has won both of its matches so far at the London Olympics, including a 3-1 win over the defending Olympic champion Brazil squad earlier in the week. The U-S is back in action today, taking on China today at 2 p.m., Minnesota time. The Chinese team is ranked No. 3 in the world. Team USA is coached by University of Minnesota volleyball coach Hugh McCutcheon, while former Golden Gopher star Lindsey Berg is the team’s captain.

(London) — The U.S. women’s gymnastics squad won the gold medal in the team final yesterday. Gabby Douglas, Jordyn Wieber (WEE-ber), Aly Raisman, Kyla Ross and McKayla Maroney helped the United States claim its first team gold in women’s gymnastics since 1996.
