A New Ulm woman has been sentenced to 5 days in jail and 5 years on probation for stealing thousands of dollars from vulnerable adults in her care. 44-year-old Stacy A. Rewitzer received a stay of adjudication on the felony financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult charge in Brown County Court on Monday. The allegations against her came after Brown County Family Services learned that money from 2 adults’ checking accounts was not being appropriately spent. The 2 had been seriously injured in a car accident, and Rewitzer was accused of continuing to take money out of their accounts for her own personal expenses while they were hospitalized over a 3-month period. Along with the jail and probation time, Rewitzer was also fined over $2,800 and ordered to relinquish all financial responsibilities over everyone except herself.
