The New Ulm City Council is scheduled to make a decision on a controversial proposal to build a water tower in a city park during its meeting this (TUE) evening. The Council will be considering a motion to authorize the PUC to use Nehls Park as the site of the new water tower, a proposal that is opposed by residents around the park, who are expected to speak at the meeting. City officials say that the new tower would have minimal impact on the park, and would open up Hermann Heights Park to development. The Council is also scheduled to consider a motion giving official support to the future construction of a dog park in New Ulm. The proposal would come back before the city council when a location is selected. Today’s New Ulm City Council meeting starts at 5pm at city hall.
