The state has confirmed an emerald ash borer infestation at the Fort Snelling Golf Club. The Minnesota Department of Agriculture says it’s the first new EAB infestation found in the state in 2012. The infestation is within Hennepin County, 1 of 4 Minnesota counties already under quarantine for the destructive pest. However, the infested trees are within a half mile of the Dakota County border, so the department will survey the surrounding area to determine whether a quarantine may be necessary for that county as well. Purple ash borer traps have been put in trees around the state to monitor the insects potential spread.
