The problem-plagued Stratosphere swing ride at the Minnesota State Fair experienced more problems Wednesday night. The ride was shut down after a reported operator error, and riders were let off. Ride operators were changing out a part as a safety precaution, and it was unclear when the ride would re-open. The Stratosphere has had trouble since it debuted at the Wisconsin State Fair earlier this month. It then stalled out during the first 2 days of the Great Minnesota Get-Together, leaving riders stranded a hundred feet in the air. Ride inspectors say the initial malfunctions were due to high wind speeds and electrical and mechanical issues. No fair-goers have been injured in any of the malfunctions.
