A Lamberton-area man underwent surgery this week after being severely burned in the August 6th explosion at the CHS grain bin in Tracy. Doug Timm suffered burns on 40% of his body when the elevator exploded. He had just unloaded a semi prior to the explosion, which also injured CHS Employee Bill Bornitz of Tracy. Both were airlifted to the Hennepin County Burn Center, where Timm underwent skin-grafting surgery this week. He is expected to be hospitalized for several weeks, with more surgeries to follow. Bornitz has been released from the hospital and sent home. His residence needed to be sterilized to ward off possible infections.
