The American Red Cross is holding a few blood drives in the area later this week as blood levels around the nation remain at dangerously low levels. The need for blood is constant, with someone in the US needing blood every 2 seconds. The American Red Cross supplies 40% of the nation’s blood supply. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at Central High School in Norwood Young America from 1 to 6pm on Wednesday and the Courtland Community Center from 2 to 7 on Thursday. The Red Cross Headquarters on Homestead Drive in Mankato will be holding blood drives from 12:30 to 5:30 on Thursday and 9am to 1pm on Friday as well. For more information on giving blood, or to make an appointment, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or log on to www.redcrossblood.org.
