It’s the first weekend of the 2012 Minnesota State Fair, and there’s plenty of music, food, farm and fun. The food is often the highlight of the fair, and Spokesperson Brienna Schuette says more than 450 types of food are available this year, including 40 new ones. She says: “Everything from bacon ice cream to beef tongue tacos to poutine, which is a favorite out of Canada – also known as ‘disco fries,’ and lamb chops on a stick. So, it runs the whole gamut as far as all the new foods we’re bringing in this year.” The Great Minnesota Get Together is the largest 12 day event in North America, and it’s expected to attract around 1.8-million visitors this year. It runs through Labor Day.
