Twins defeat Tribe, Plouffe goes on DL 28 Jul 12

Scott Diamond tossed a complete game to help the Twins topple the Indians, 11-0.  Diamond gave up three hits and struck out six on his way to his ninth win.  Josh Willingham and Justin Morneau each blasted a three-run homer for Minnesota, which snapped a three-game slide.  Joe Mauer knocked in two runs and scored three times.  Denard Span also touched home three times in the win.  The Twins and Tribe will continue their series tonight.

(Minneapolis, MN)  –  The Twins placed infielder Trevor Plouffe on the 15-day disabled list Friday with a bruised right thumb.  Over 75 games this season, Plouffe is batting .259 with a career-high 19 home runs and 38 RBI.  The Twins will recall Danny Valencia from Triple-A Rochester.  Valencia started the season with Minnesota but was optioned to Rochester on May 9th.
