The southbound lanes of Highway 169 were blocked early this (THU) morning just south of St. Peter after a semi-truck flipped onto it’s side. The accident happened at just after 1am about a half-mile from St. Peter. The driver of the 1993 Freightliner went into the median and overcorrected, causing the semi to roll onto it’s side. Both southbound lanes were blocked when emergency crews from St. Peter, Nicollet County and Mankato arrived at the scene. The semi took severe damage. The driver of the semi, 49-year-old Michael Olson of Estherville, Iowa, suffered only minor injuries and was treated at River’s Edge Hospital in St. Peter and released. He was wearing a seatbelt, and alcohol was not involved.
