A Lake Crystal woman who admitted to murdering her husband in 2010 has been sentenced to 17 years in prison and 8.5 years of supervised release. 34-year-old Jennifer Nibbe recently pleaded guilty to 2nd-degree murder in Blue Earth County Court for the killing of her husband, James Nibbe, in the couple’s home on August 31st, 2010. She was originally charged with 1st-degree murder. In the plea hearing, Nibbe testified that she remembers loading a shotgun while James Nibbe slept that morning, but not pulling the trigger. During her sentencing in court Monday, Nibbe was also ordered to pay over $11,000 in restitution to the Mankato Mortuary to cover the funeral expenses for her husband. She was given 700 days credit for time already served as well.
