The GFW School Board on Monday approved a 30-year contract with wireless broadband provider Clearwire, pending FCC approval. GFW’s current FFC-approved license for four Instructional Television Fixed Service channels expires in October. Clearwire will provide GFW a $30,000 one-time payment, as well as monthly payments that will start at $600 and move up each year. The contract also includes service credit each month for free wireless and equipment. GFW Superintendent Jeff Bertrang says that the contract will mean a steady income for technology planning for the district.
