The McLeod County Emergency Food Shelf is in dire need of donations this month. Officials say that more than 82,000 pounds of food has been distributed in McLeod County since April 1st, and the usage has been increasing every month. The need increases over the summer as well with children out of school. In order to continue serving the residents of the county, the McLeod food shelf has applied for funds from the Open Your Heart For The Homeless And Hungry Challenge Grant. The organization will match all funds contributed to the food shelf up to $4,000, so officials say you can help by donating food or cash to the food shelf during the month of July.
