Chicago defeats Twins, Plouffe out 24 Jul 12

Paul Konerko went 3-for-4 and hit a three-run homer to power the White Sox to a 7-4 win over the Twins. Denard Span finished 3-for-5 with a run while Ryan Doumit jacked a solo homer for Minnesota. Francisco Liriano allowed seven runs in just two-and-two-thirds innings for the loss as the Twins dropped their fourth game in six contests. Plouffe Misses Third Straight Game

(Chicago, IL) — Twins utility-man Trevor Plouffe missed his third straight game on Monday in the opener of a three-game series against the White Sox in Chicago. The team was hoping Plouffe would return to the lineup yesterday, but was not in the starting lineup once again due to the thumb injury. The 26-year-old is hitting .259 with 19 homers and 38 RBI this season.
