A carnival worker in North Mankato was injured Thursday evening when the ride he was operating struck him in the head. It happened at just before 7pm during North Mankato Fun Days. North Mankato Police Lieutenant Carl Bock says that the extreme heat appears to have contributed to the accident. The ride operator, 48-year-old Todd LaPointe of Rockford was taken to the Mankato Mayo Hospital with head and neck injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening. He was reportedly alert and conscious when first responders arrived.
