Blood Supply Critically Low 02 Jul 12

The American Red Cross blood supply remains critically low, and an emergency call for blood donors has been issued. Spokesperson Sue Gonsior says they are trying to get the blood supply back up to a safe level this holiday week. Gonsior says they need to collect around 700 pints of blood every day in order to adequately supply the region. Blood drives in the local area this week include from 1 to 7pm today (MON) at the Springfield Community Center, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm from 1 to 7pm on Thursday, and at the First Presbyterian Church in St. James from 1 to 7 on Thursday and 8 to Noon on Friday. All blood donors this week will be entered in a special prize drawing as well. For more information on donating blood, or to make an appointment call  1-800-Red-Cross  or go to
