The American Red Cross blood supply has reached emergency levels in Minnesota, and donors are desperately needed. Spokesperson Sue Gonsior says the shortage is because 50,000 fewer donations than expected were made in June. All blood types are needed. Blood drives in the local area this week include at the First Lutheran Church in Le Sueur from 1 to 7pm today (MON), at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson from Noon to 6 on Tuesday, and at the American Red Cross Headquarters on Homestead Drive in Mankato from 12:30 to 5:30 on Thursday and 9 to 1 on Friday. For more information on donating blood, or to make an appointment, go to www.redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-Red-Cross .
