The sentencing of a Willmar man convicted of taking part in a weeks-long crime spree last summer has been delayed. 38-year-old Matthew James Wrobleski faces up to 33 months in prison after pleading guilty to felony charges of illegal possession of a firearm and motor vehicle theft. He originally faced 14 separate charges in Renville County Court after breaking into a residence near Bird Island and removing copper pipes and wiring as well as stealing ATVs and other vehicles from several locations. He was caught after a week-long intensive search, and remains in custody in the Renville County Jail. Wrobleski’s sentencing was delayed Tuesday over “issues” that still need to be resolved, including whether the charges for the two offenses should be treated as one or two separate actions. He is also facing a sentencing in Kandiyohi County and pending charges in Meeker County for crimes from the same time period.
