The first soybean condition ratings of the year are in, and they say that soybeans across the state are in generally good condition. The USDA says that 77% of Minnesota’s soybean crop is rated in good or excellent condition. The report comes after a week of variable weather conditions, including a significant amount of rain in southern Minnesota. Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 95% adequate to surplus. Soybean planting is currently 98% complete, ahead of the 5-year average, and corn is 98% emerged, with an average height of 8 inches. 84% of Minnesota’s corn crop is in good or excellent condition.
