A person was hit by a train on Sunday in New Ulm. The incident occurred at about 5:15pm at the railroad crossing with 20th North Street. Witnesses at the scene reportedly saw the victim lying on the rails, partially draped over the tracks before being thrown several feet by the engine of the train. When authorities arrived, the train had stopped just short of the 20th North Street crossing. Emergency personnel were seen removing a person with a stretcher from the northern slope of the tracks, approximately a quarter mile west of the street. The victim was loaded into an ambulance and driven away from the scene. More information is expected to be released later today (MON).
