Authorities continue to investigate after a man in a wheelchair was killed by a train while trying to cross some tracks in Faribault Monday night. The accident happened at around 6:30pm at the railroad crossing on Second Street in Faribault. The victim has been identified as 58-year-old Scott Douglas Hutchinson of Faribault. The preliminary investigation indicates that Hutchinson was in a motorized wheelchair while attempting to cross the tracks, but the engineer of the train told authorities that the victim appeared to have stopped in the middle of the tracks and turned to face the train. Hutchinson’s body was carried nearly 150-feet from the point of impact and he was dead at the scene.
