RS Fiber Approves Contracts 08 Jun 12

The Renville-Sibley Fiber Joint Powers Board approved a pair of important contracts during a recent meeting. The Board approved an engineering contract with Spectrum Engineering out of Auburn, Indiana, and a project management contract with the telecommunications planning company, CCG Consulting. The first phase of laying 150-miles of fiber is expected to get underway this Summer following the final approval of the $70-million project to bring fiber optic phone, internet and television to the rural and urban areas of Renville and Sibley Counties. Many of the fiber connections to homes and businesses in the 11 affected communities will then begin to be made in 2013, with some work continuing into 2014.
