The Redwood Falls City Council is considering enacting a “Social Host” ordinance. The new ordinance for the city would prohibit a person from hosting an event or gathering where alcohol is being consumed by persons under 21 years of age. It would also establish penalties for those hosting such an event. A public hearing to discuss the Redwood Falls Social Host Ordinance has been set for 5:15pm on Tuesday, June 19th. Statewide there are 69 cities and 16 counties with Social Host ordinances on the books. Local-area communities with such ordinances include: Belle Plaine, Comfrey, Fairfax, Glencoe, Granite Falls, Mankato, New Prague, New Ulm, Olivia, Sleepy Eye, Springfield and Waseca, as well as Renville, Scott and Yellow Medicine Counties.
