Minnesota exports set another record in the first quarter of 2012, the sixth straight quarterly export record. The Minnesota Trade Office’s Katie Clark says that Minnesota exported a record $4.9-billion worth of products, a record among other first-quarters. The state also saw a 2% growth in exports over the first quarter of last year. The largest Minnesota export during the first quarter was machinery, which was up nearly 10% to $1-billion. Canada is the state’s strongest trade partner with $1.3-billion in exports in the first quarter. Pork exports to Korea have been on the rise since a Minnesota trade delegation visit last fall as well.
