Two Mankato residents are facing felony charges after being arrested Wednesday when authorities discovered a marijuana growing operation at their home. The Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at the home on Fourth Avenue in Mankato early Wednesday morning and arrested Brandon Bembenek and Leita Baker after a short chase. Investigators say they found more than 50 marijuana plants growing in the garage as well as numerous prescription pills. The 2 suspects are facing 5th-degree controlled substance charges, and could spend up to 5 years in prison for the crime.
