A detour for the work on Highway 14 at Nicollet County Road 41 just west of Mankato has been delayed again due to the recent rainy weather, but a smaller detour in that area is now in place. County Road 41, otherwise known as Rockford Road, normally connects the Judson Bottom Road to Highway 14, but that connection was severed by the ongoing construction of a new Highway 14 interchange and the expansion of around a mile of the highway to a four-lane expressway. Mn/DOT created a temporary road connecting Rockford to Pleasant View Drive, but many drivers are reportedly skipping that detour and going on to the Bottom Road due to the poor quality of the temporary road. The bigger detour for the $18-million project will involve shutting down Highway 14 between Lookout Drive and County Road 6. It was originally expected to begin the last week in May, but was then pushed back to June 23rd, and has now been delayed by another week or so due to the recent wet weather. It’s expected to be in place for a maximum of 90 days.
