The investigation into the cause of a fire at a machine shed in rural Glencoe recently continues, with the damages now being estimated at over $1-million. The shed fire at the John Kohnen Sr. residence on 441st Avenue south of Glencoe took place during the early morning hours of the Sunday before Memorial Day. The Glencoe Fire Department received assistance in battling the blaze from Plato, Arlington and New Auburn firefighters, with crews remaining on the scene for over four-and-a-half hours. No injuries were reported. Early indications are that the fire was caused by a lightning strike, but an official ruling has been delayed due to fire marshall staff being busy investigating the paper mill fire in Sartell.
