Fatal Crash Prison Sentence 16 Jun 12

A Central Minnesota man accused of fleeing police and causing a crash that killed two people has been sentenced to 36 years in prison. 23-year-old Timothy Richard Gilles of Clearwater is accused of speeding away from St. Cloud police and crashing into a vehicle in April of 2011. The crash killed 30-year-old Timothy Casanova of Starbuck. His passenger, 22-year-old Megan Thomsen of Glenwood, was pregnant and gave birth after the crash to a baby that died days after his emergency delivery. Thomsen was also injured. Gilles was sentenced to 432 months in prison on Thursday after pleading guilty to charges of fleeing police in a motor vehicle resulting in death and great bodily harm.
