A Waseca woman who pleaded guilty to malicious punishment of a child has been sentenced to 6 months in jail for the crime. Deanna Musolf, and her husband Jeff, were accused of confining 2 of their adopted daughters to dark, bare bedrooms for extended periods, as well as denying them sufficient nourishment and clothing and not allowing them into the bathroom for days. They lost custody of those girls early last year, and later in the year to their 4 other adopted children. Jeff Musolf was sentenced to 1 year of probation and 28 hours of community service work in a plea deal. Deanna Musolf will be on probation for two years following her release from jail on the gross misdemeanor charge.
