The wet weather of the past week put a damper on fieldwork across most of Minnesota. And while the rain was welcome in dry parts of northwestern Minnesota, it saturated fields in the southwest. In its weekly crop weather report for Minnesota, the USDA says that rainfall totals over the week ranged from nearly a half-inch in western Minnesota to almost 6-inches in east-central Minnesota. Topsoil moisture is now rated 68% adequate and 21% surplus. Statewide, about 3-and-a-half days were suitable for fieldwork. Corn is now 94% emerged, and 84% of the crop is in good or excellent condition. Soybeans advanced to 94% planted and 41% emerged over the past week as well.
