Rain and thunderstorms slowed fieldwork in some parts of Minnesota over the past week, but the USDA says that only 11% of the state is now short or very short on topsoil moisture. But 18% of the state now has a topsoil moisture surplus, compared with 3% the week before. Corn planting is now more than 73% complete, compared with 20% at this point last year. 19% of soybeans were planted as of this past week, compared with 4% last year. Sugar beet planting is now nearly complete at 98% as well.
