Vehicular Homicide Plea 10 May 12

A 45-year-old Raymond woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to two felony charges of criminal vehicular homicide for a crash south of Litchfield in late 2010 that claimed the lives of two people. Ronda Malvin admitted that she was driving on Highway 22 on November 20th, 2010, and attempted to brake during icy road conditions and lost control, causing the vehicle to enter the oncoming lane of traffic and set off a three-car collision. Two passengers in her vehicle, 44-year-old Kimberly Mead of Willmar, and 55-year-old Barbara Wold of Spicer died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash. Malvin also admitted that she had used drugs two days before the crash, and that she didn’t realize she was driving on black ice at the time. As part of a plea agreement 8 additional charges will be dismissed.
