Twins Win, Begin InterLeague, Blackburn DL 18 May 12

Justin Morneau [[ MORE-noh ]] clubbed a three-run homer in the third and Trevor Plouffe followed with a solo shot as the Twins topped the Tigers, 4-3. Morneau added an RBI groundout in the fifth as Minnesota swept the brief two-game set. P.J. Walters tossed six-and-a-third innings of three-run ball to get his first win. Matt Capps earned his eighth save.

(Milwaukee, WI) — The Twins begin a three-game Interleague series with the Brewers at Miller Park this evening. Scott Diamond is scheduled to get the start on the mound for the Twins. Twins Send Blackburn To DL
(Detroit, MI) — The Twins have placed pitcher Nick Blackburn on the 15-day DL because of a left quad strain. Ben Revere has been called up to take Blackburn’s spot on the roster. Meantime, the Twins decided to keep catcher Ryan Doumit on the 25-man roster. He is suffering from a right calf strain.
