Three people were injured in a car crash just south of the City of Cottonwood Tuesday afternoon. The crash occurred at just before 4pm on Highway 23, about 2 miles south of Cottonwood. A southbound Chevy Blazer driven by 29-year-old Cathryn Batista of Cottonwood pulled onto the shoulder and had begun to make a u-turn when it was struck by a southbound Ford pickup driven by 26-year-old Matthew Burnett of Marshall. Batista was flown to North Memorial in Robbinsdale with non life-threatening injuries, while her passenger, 46-year-old Toni Logan of Cottonwood was hospitalized in Marshall. Burnett was not hurt, but his passenger, 26-year-old Cari Burnett of Marshall was taken to the Sioux Falls Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
A Montgomery man was injured Tuesday evening when his motorcycle was hit by a car on Highway 13. 63-year-old Lawrence Petersen was driving a 2008 Harley Davidson southbound on 13 in Le Sueur County when a 2000 Toyota pulled out directly in front of him at about 6:20pm at the intersection with LeSueur County Road 28. Petersen was treated for non life-threatening injuries at the New Prague Hospital and was later released. The driver of the Toyota, 30-year-old Jessica Alladin of LeCenter was not injured.
