A 65-year-old Sleepy Eye woman who spent time in prison for selling methamphetamine out of her former Madison Lake resort has been arrested again on new drug-related charges. Mary Louise Pepper was stopped on Highway 60 east of Madison Lake recently for speeding, and the sheriff’s deputy who stopped her spotted a meth pipe in her purse while Pepper was searching for her proof of insurance. When she was told to exit the vehicle, Pepper allegedly threw the pipe at the deputy and attempted to put the vehicle into gear and flee. She was then placed under arrest, and a bag containing 12 grams of meth, along with more drug paraphernalia was found in her purse. Pepper claimed the meth belonged to a friend. She had been sentenced to around 7 years in prison in 2002 after meth was being sold out of the former Lakeview Resort in Madison Lake, which Pepper owned at the time. She’s now facing a 2nd-degree drug charge for the latest incident.
