A 22-year-old Mankato man recently released from prison after taking part in a drive-by shooting in New Ulm is back in custody in connection with an assault in Mankato this week. Dustin Lee Murilla is accused of physically assaulting a 26-year-old acquaintance, as well as taking the man’s keys and a cell phone. The victim sustained minor facial injuries and was treated at the Mankato Mayo Hospital. Murilla was arrested for aggravated robbery and assault a short time later. He had previously served a 27-month prison sentence for firing a 9-millimeter handgun at a man in New Ulm’s North German Park in 2009. Murilla was in a car driven by his girlfriend at the time, and fired one shot in the air and at least one shot toward the victim as several people watched. No one was injured. Murilla pleaded guilty to felony assault in that case.
