The New Ulm City Council is scheduled to fill the vacant Ward 2 council seat this (TUE) evening. The seat is empty following the resignation of Councilor Todd Olson. Two candidates for the seat were interviewed by the council on Monday: Lisa Fischer and Paul Warshauer. The selected candidate will be announced and appointed at today’s meeting, and will serve through the end of the year. The position will be on the ballot this November. In other business today, the council is scheduled to award the contract for $3.3-million worth of Utility, Street and Alley improvements for New Ulm in 2012. The Council will also be considering options for repairing the inlaid sidewalk bricks and concrete paver crosswalks in downtown New Ulm, and hold the first reading of an ordinance annexing land for a new Menard’s store on the west end of town. Today’s New Ulm City Council meeting starts at 5pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
