The final vote has been taken and now it’s full steam ahead for a new Minnesota Vikings stadium After spirited debate, the Minneapolis City Council yesterday voted in favor of the 975-million-dollar plan to build a new facility near the Metrodome. The city will redirect sales and hospitality taxes to pay its 150-million-dollar share of the project. The plan also lets Minneapolis use up to 70-million dollars to renovate Target Center. A five-member stadium authority will be created to lay out a bidding process and oversee construction. The project is scheduled to begin next spring.
