MN Students In Nat’l Bee 30 May 12

A total of 5 students from Minnesota are competing in the National Spelling Bee this week near Washington DC, including a local-area 7th-grader. Nearly 280 young competitors were taking a computerized test Tuesday, and those results are then combined with the results of an onstage competition today (WED) to determine Thursday’s semifinalists in the 85th annual bee. The Minnesota students include: returning national spelling bee competitor Antony Joseph of Fairmont, as well as students from Aurora, Greenfield, Rochester and Baxter. A spelling champion will be crowned Thursday night.
