Mail processing centers in Mankato, St. Cloud and Rochester face consolidation, and the loss of jobs, following an announcement by the US Postal Service this week. Minnesota Postal Service Spokesperson Pete Nowacki says that they will be attempting to find other jobs for the employees affected by the closures. He says the Mankato and St. Cloud mail processing centers will be consolidated into Minneapolis while the Rochester facility will be merged into the St. Paul center in Eagan. The changes will happen next February. Facilities in Duluth and Bemidji are staying open for now, but could face consolidation in a couple of years.
