Kiesling Park Renovation 08 May 12

Renovation work is underway at historic Kiesling Park in downtown New Ulm. New Ulm Park and Rec Director Tom Schmitz says the work will add interpretive elements to the park, as well as a replica barricade and wooden stockade fence along with brick paverstones for streetside performances. The work at Kiesling Park is being done thanks to a $20,000 grant from the New Ulm Area Foundation, and is expected to be done by mid-summer. Kiesling Park is the home of the Kiesling House, the only wooden structure in New Ulm that survived the 1862 Dakota Uprising and remains in it’s original location.
